We're Open

Luckily the child labor laws are a little different down here in Texas. As usual, we're busy pricing work at the last second. I'm lucky to have a few helpers today and here's one of them pricing some of the new decal mugs. He was also kind enough to make a sign pointing the way to the "free" candy that we put out for our guests.

We're here 10-5 and hope to see some of you all today.

Save the Date 12/13/2009

We're going to be hosting a fantastic Holiday Open House this year at our new home in Austin, TX. I hope you all will be able to join us on Sunday, December 13th.

Once again, thanks to all of my fellow Austin potters for joining us for the show. It should be fun and we're in a great central location so hope to see you soon!

This is a rough layout of the card...I'm just waiting for a couple of Hi-Res photos from some fellow potters before it goes to print.

Back Home

We're back in Austin after having a great week in NY and I'll post about it soon...plus I think I owe a follow-up post on E.A.S.T.

Today I'm getting settled back in and reclaiming my studio from it's tour set up as a gallery space. What I have left over from E.A.S.T. will be over at our house for a Holiday Open House that we're doing on Sunday 12/13. I'll announce the details soon and get some images up about it.

For now, I just want to thank my fellow Austin potters who have all been incredibly welcoming. Ryan McKerley came up with the idea of a group open house as a way of letting people know that I'm new in town making pots. Ryan is one of the founders of Art of The Pot and he's called in reinforcements with some of his Art of The Pot co-founders. So, I hope you'll save that Sunday to come by our house and check out all of the work. So far we have a great lineup including, Ryan, Lisa Orr, Michael Merritt, Chris Campbell and Claudia Reese. I'm printing up a card today so let me know your address if you'd like one. keith (at) kreegerpottery (dot)com. (sorry...trying to avoid spam by not writing out my full email address)

East Austin Studio Tour

I'm starting to find out that this East Austin Studio Tour (E.A.S.T) is a pretty big deal. I'm incredibly excited about it and better get to work mixing glaze so I'm ready for it.

I had just about the best weekend ever and after I catch up on my work I'll tell you all about it.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who stopped by over the weekend and picked up some new and some old pots to take care of in their homes.

I'll be open by appointment throughout the week.  Use the email on the contact us page at the website or just give us a call and either Evangelina or I will make sure to show you what's new.

Thanks Again!

Open

I'll be in the gallery today until mid-afternoon.

Open Studio is Saturday & Sunday, 10-3

A Glimpse...

Here are a couple shots of the gallery with different focal points.

We're just about set up for the weekend and I have the door open today for a preview.

Every year I forget how quickly the Cape changes.  The traffic had a noticeable uptick yesterday and it's great seeing people walk around town again...even better when they swing into the gallery.

I'll be here today until mid-afternoon.

The real Open Studio begins tomorrow:
Saturday: 10-3
Sunday: 10-3

What Day is It?

Proofreading should include checking the date.  I got word from a few loyal customers that I put the wrong dates in the newsletter that I sent out this morning.  Whoops!

The Open Studio & Sale is Memorial Day Weekend.  That's this Saturday and Sunday, May 23rd & 24th.  We will be closed on Monday, May 25th.

I hope I didn't confuse too many people.  See you all this weekend.

Pics and Open Studio Sale

It just isn't a pottery blog if there aren't pics up.  Words are so long and sentences are even longer.  New pots are so much more exciting.

And, on that note....here are some new pots I've been working on.

These are some vases I'm playing around with.  I want to have a couple sizes to play with.  I really liked the larger rounder wobbly rim vases and I wanted to see how it works with a more slender form.  They are slipped and waxed and ready for some incising.

I'm intrigued by these "cappuccino" cups.  I made some of my more typical "taller" mug forms but then sketched these out and I made these two.  I am working on the scale and form but I like where they are heading.  I'm not sure if they need a saucer...I've never been big on cups and saucers but these might be asking for one.

Here are a few more tall slender wobbly rim vases.   These are with the B-Mix which just throws so beautifully.  The piles in the background are part of the studio that I haven't gotten organized quite yet.

It will probably be a slow weekend here in the studio.  I'll finish up these pots and hopefully even make a few more.  My clay order is getting delivered Monday so next week should be pretty productive.

Stop in for the Holiday Sale....The shop is open today, 10-4

Buy Something Handmade this Holiday Season...

We're all set up and ready for the Holiday Stroll.

I'll also be opening the gallery tomorrow and next Saturday as well.  As always, I'll be open by appointment and since I'm making pots this week in the studio there's a good chance that the front door will be open if you stop by.  If you don't want to risk it, give me a call or email me and make sure I'm around or.....you can always shop online...

Or go Shop Here...

....or find somewhere near you.   Google your favorite artist and see if they're having a show soon.   Call them...stop by their studio.  I promise...you'll enjoy it much more that the shop at the mall and whomever you give the gift to will enjoy it much more as well.

Work...but no pics

The studio is back to 90% clean.  Well...90% of what I consider to be a workable space.  I made a few pots today.  I am very low on clay but I spent today throwing the last of the stoneware.  Some mugs, some vases and some bowls.  I'm focused on Baltimore ACC now as I return to the studio.  I used the time to try out a few new forms and refine a few others.  As I said earlier I'm doing wholesale & retail while I'm there.  I haven't done wholesale in a few years and I want to go in with a small but very focused line of wholesale work.  Tomorrow, I'll finish up what I made and make some more using some white stoneware.  I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

Evangelina organized the gallery because tomorrow is the Holiday Stroll and Open House.  The stroll is from 5pm-9pm but I'll have the gallery open most of the day while I'm working in the studio.  Again...pics tomorrow.

Please stop by if you're on Cape because the shop looks great once again.  It felt like we were getting ready to open for summer.  We'll also have a bunch of work on sale and some seconds out for purchase.  Hope to see some of you tomorrow.
